Chiara Sabatti's Group
Our group is housed in the departments of Biomedical Data Science and Statistics at Stanford. We are interested in the statistical challenges presented by high-throughput biomedical data. We are members of the center for Computational, Evolutionary and Human Genomics, BioX, and the Stanford Cancer Institute. Chiara is also an associate director of the institute for Human-centered AI .

Undergraduate Research
I work with two summer research programs tailored for Stanford students: Data Surf and Data Science for Social Good .If you are attending a different college, there are a number of programs that you might find interesting. I run one called Data Science Mentoring.

A good idea is to take one of the classes I teach or attend the journal club/seminars I run.I strive to provide mentoring opportunities for graduate students: check out Data Science Mentoring and Data Science for Social Good.

Graduate Applications
If you are interested in graduate studies at Stanford in our area of research, you can apply to the Statistics PhD/master program or to the Biomedical Data Science program. Please be aware that admissions are done at the department level and there is no prior matching with potential advisors.Stanford has a program for Visiting Student Researchers from other universities. You should be aware that there are fees associated to this. The France-Stanford Center for Interdisciplinary Studies offers fellowships that would help with this if you qualify.

Yusuph Mavura
Yusuph is a post-doctoral fellow in the lab. He is studying how genes and drug exposures interact to influence blood pressure.
Alexandru Lopotenco
Alexandru contributes to a project funded by ARPA-H to develop an Intrinsic Capacity score that predicts 20-year outcomes including mortality, multimorbidity, hospitalization, and loss of functional ability
Sarah Zhao
Sarah is working on a project with Emmanuel Candes and Zihuai He that allows us to enlarge the sample sizes available for genetic studies by carefully imputing phenotype values.
Yash Nair
Yash is helping us to understand how data collection and inferential guarantees adapt to AI-powered science.
Jamie Liu
Jamie is rotating in the lab and leading our exploration of virtual cell models.
Consulting and collaborations
One of the most fun things of working in statistics is that you get to "play" with scientists in many different disciplines: do not hesitate to contact me for possible collaborations. For example, I enjoy working with amazing researchers at the Palo Alto VA . An excellent way to get statistical consultations is to take advantage of the services we offer with the Data Studio.
